'Ultimate Funk Grooves for Tenor Sax and Bb Instruments is a dynamic rhythm patterns book for learning some of the funkiest licks. This book contains 92 riffs that showcase the different ways in which the solist can create a distinct Funk sound to ones playing. The audio CD that comes with the book contains 31 different grooves that accompany each of the riffs, influenced by James Brown, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, The Meters, The Crusaders, Brecker Brothers, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Average White Band, Junior Walker and others. There's a really hip discography covering James Brown through Maceo Parker in 2005and 25+ other artists well. I like the procedure of each lick being played twice. First time is by the saxophone only and the second time by the entire rhythm section without the saxophone. The difficulty of the licks are basically level IV for intermediate and advanced players.
